The ACT Ombudsman is committed to the handling of personal information  in accordance with the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988.

The ACT Ombudsman operates  within the office of the Commonwealth Ombudsman. It is subject to the Privacy Policy of that office which covers in detail our personal information handling practices. The Policy gives effect to the Australian Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988.

We are working to improve our services. We might contact people who have used our services to get information about their experiences and needs. Sometimes we engage other companies to contact people to gather this information. You can choose whether or not you provide information – it's voluntary. Any information you choose to provide will be kept secure, remain confidential and will be stored separately from our records about your complaint. We, and the companies we use, must meet privacy laws which restrict how we collect, store and use the information you give.
